We have been using the online booking system for a month now, so it seemed like a good time to give you an update on how it is going and also to ask for your feedback.
Overall the system has been very well received and well used. For a more complete update please do read the Member Update.
Your feedback on the system is both useful and appreciated. We will do our best to take your feedback on board and to act on it where we can. So far:
- You said you were concern that your PIN number was displayed on the touch screen. This has been fixed.
- You told us that the touch screen was difficult to use. This has been adjusted and we want more feedback.
- You told us that you found entering the voucher codes confusing.
Help test has been added to the Top-up pages on the website and on the touch screen.
So please take a few minutes and send your thoughts about the system (good and bad, please) to Jim Wiley at jim.wiley@btinternet.com. Also if you are having trouble using the system please don't hesitate to contact Jim.

Surrey Youth Games
Saturday saw the 14th Surrey Youth Games, which this year was held at the new Surrey Sports Park in Guildford. Reigate & Banstead sent a junior squash team of eight youngsters to take part in the junior squash tournament.
Matches consist of five players from each team in a table of four playing each other. The matches are played over three games, the results being either 2-1 or 3-0. Table B consisted of Reigate & Banstead, Epsom & Ewell, Elmbridge and Spelthorn Team 2.
In the first match the juniors faced Elmbridge. All five R & B players won their matches 3-0, making a perfect score of 15.
The next match was against Spelthorn's second team, once again all five R & B players won 3-0. This gave the Borough a score of 30/30. Lastly R & B played Epsom & Ewell. Again all the players won their games 3-0, giving R & B an impressive score of 45/45.
In the semi-final R & B were up against the Spelthorn first team, who came second in Table A. Once again the R & B players won all five matches 3-0, this put the R & B team into the final where they were to face Mole Valley.
After some very good matches the R & B team were victorious, losing only one game throughout the whole day. The final score was 14-1 to Reigate & Banstead. This is the fourth year that the R & B junior squash team have won gold at the Youth Games. All players took home a shiny gold medal and the trophy will spend time with all eight players who took part in a day of great squash and sportsmanship.
All of the players trained at Reigate Squash Club in Manor Road under the expert coaching of Head Coach Alison Malynn. Alison was assisted in her coaching by some of Reigate's older Junior players, Jonathan Malynn, Mike Pinggera, Alex Fredericks, Alex Phillips & Lilly Pinggera. Alison's father Arthur Cumings also played a part in the coaching and was the Borough's Official Photographer for the Surrey Youth Games weekend. Special mention should also go to Alison Malynn, Jonathan Malynn, Lilly Pinggera & Simon Fredericks for volunteering to mark matches at the Games.
New, improved facilities at the Manor Road club have just been completed and it is hoped that the club will go from strength to strength. Reigate Squash Club now have an online booking system, new changing facillities for ladies and has had all four courts refurbished.
The junior team that won gold are - Ted English, Annabel Fredericks, Niamh Brown, Connor McNeil, George Kernick, Holly Dowling, James Dunning & Georgia McKenzie.

NEW ONLINE COURT BOOKING SYSTEM
Reigate Squash Club will be implementing a new online booking system which will be used for booking all courts from 21 June onwards. For all courts up to and including 20 June, please continue to use the current court stamp system.
The new system can be accessed either online at: reigate.mycourts.co.uk or on the touch screen that will be installed at the Club. You will be able to use it to book courts as of 7 June (i.e. for courts on 21 June), two weeks in advance.
Members (other than corporate members) will receive a letter that tells you what you need to know to use the system. Please read it very carefully and contact me (r.geller@roehampton.ac.uk) or Jim Wiley (01737 221022, jim.wiley@btinternet.com) if you have any questions. The letter will give you your username, password and PIN. It will also tell you what email address we have for you, if any. If this email address is incorrect or blank, you will need to log in to the website and update it.
Demonstration sessions
If you would like to learn more about the new system, please come down to the Club for one of four Demonstration Sessions between 7:30 and 9:00 p.m. on June 8, 10, 15 or 17.
Booking courts
Between now and 7 June, you will need to use the usual stamps to book courts. Stamps left over after the new system has gone live, will be refunded either at the bar or at one of the Demonstrations Sessions.
Before you book your first court on the new system you will need to buy a “top-up voucher”. Vouchers can be purchased in the same way as you currently buy court stamps and will also be sold during the Demonstration Sessions.
Vouchers will cost £20 each and you can buy as many as you like at a time. When you log on to the new system you will need to enter the voucher code and number into the system.
For each booking, you will be charged the appropriate number of credits for your category of member.
Touch screen at the Club
In addition to the online booking system, a Touch screen will be installed at the Club which will display all booking information and can also be used to make new bookings. So, after 7 June you will be able to use the touch screen to make bookings from 21 June onwards. From 21 June onwards, you will also be able to use the touch screen to see who has booked the courts in use on the day.
30 April 2010
Dear Member
Much has been going on at the Club in recent weeks and the coming months will also see many new improvements. Some of the highlights are described below and include the refurbishment of all of the courts, the introduction of a new online court booking system and improvements to the women’s showers.
While your Committee has been hard at work on many fronts, we have not yet found a new recruit to take on the role of Social Secretary. Please let me know if any of you are willing to take on this responsibility. If you feel that this would be too daunting a task, but have an idea for a social function and are prepared to organise it as a one-off event, we would be delighted to hear from you. We would also like to hear from anyone who might like to organise the annual dinner dance although if no one steps forward, we will likely defer this for a year.
Refurbishment of Courts
The Club has decided that as a Squash Club, our Courts are one of the main assets of the club, and therefore have agreed to invest a large amount of the club's funds in refurbishment of all courts.
A rolling programme has been agreed with the contractors, so it will always be possible to have the use of at least two courts, during this work. The current booking system reflects what courts are available.
Work started on Monday 26th April on Courts B and C. Court B, will have all playing surface plaster removed and re-plastered. The flooring and supports will be removed and a new floor laid. A new door and hinges will be fitted. Court C, will have the plaster work repaired, all playing surfaces re-painted and the floor will be sanded.
Courts A and D will be started on the 17th May. Court A will have a complete refurbishment and Court D will be repaired and painted.
The scheduled times for the work and completion are:
We have tried to make sure there is minimal disruption during this time but the time allocated will allow the plaster to dry out completely before use.
Please be aware that the courts may at first be slippery but we have asked the cleaner to wash down the courts each morning if possible to ensure as little dust as we can.
Please note that the league session will also be extended to ensure that there is plenty of time for everyone to get their games played. The date will be shown on the bottom of the leagues as usual.
New Online Booking System
Following discussions at the last Annual General Meeting, we are pleased to have entered into an agreement with MyCourts to launch a new online facility for squash court bookings. This has been extensively trailed over the past few weeks and we are very pleased to be able to introduce it for the benefit of all. For those who wish to be able to book from home, you will be able to do so online for booking commencing 24 May, 2010. For those who wish to continue to book at the Club, there will be a touch screen for that purpose - which will also display which courts have been booked. The new system will - while electronic - otherwise work in the same as the existing system. You will be able to book as usual until 24 May on the existing paper booking sheets. From 24 May onwards, all bookings will be on the new system. We will be sending you detailed instructions on how to use the new system shortly including what to do with your existing court stamps but if in the meantime you have any questions or comments please email Robin Geller at r.geller@roehampton.ac.uk.
Improvements to Ladies’ Shower Area
As the ladies shower area needed modernisation, and to minimise any inconvenience, work will be carried out on the ladies shower area during the Court Refurbishment programme.
The ladies’ showers will be removed and new drainage channels will be installed in the floor. A new floor will be laid. All walls will be re-tiled and four new showers fitted, with vanity screens. The old toilets will be removed and new low suite toilets fitted.
Work is due to start on Monday 3rd May 2010 and is scheduled to take 4 weeks. Alternative shower facilities will of course be made available during this period.
Club Tournament
Many members participated in the Club Tournament – both Juniors and “Seniors” - which was a resounding success – with many exciting matches being played on Finals’ Night. The results were:
